7 Days
Experience Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks as a winter wonderland, the way many people don’t normally see them! With unique wildlife viewing opportunities, geysers and other thermal features shrouded in mist and fog, all amid snow and ice, along with majestic snowcapped mountains, lakes, rivers, and streams laid out as far as the eye can see. Enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Elk Refuge, where thousands of elk winter. Choose between a snowmobile or snowcoach tour through Yellowstone National Park, including stops at Old Faithful and West Thumb Geyser Basin. While in Salt Lake City, enjoy a visit to the 2002 Olympic Village and a morning performance by the World-Famous Tabernacle Choir.
6 Days
See the wonders of Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone areas during the winter, when snow sparkles against the mountains, their streams, and thermal features. This is a non-guided tour, but includes guided snowmobiling.
Join Southwest Adventure Tours for a wintertime tour of the area around Fairbanks, Alaska, for viewing the Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights. The main auroral band usually crosses the state in an arc north of the Alaska Range, home of Denali, North America’s tallest peak, which is just south of Fairbanks. The city and the surrounding area are probably the state’s “sweet spot” for Northern Lights viewing. Our 6-day adventure will be filled with history, activities, and wintery sights, but most of all, nighttime viewing of the Aurora Borealis.
Lapland, located in the northernmost part of Scandinavia, is renowned for its majestic mountain peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and thundering waterfalls. With its untouched landscapes, it’s no surprise that this region is often referred to as Europe’s last wilderness! When winter arrives in Swedish Lapland, the region transforms into a true paradise for nature and landscape photography. The mountains are blanketed in snow, thick ice covers the lakes, and the magical Northern Lights dance across the night sky. March marks the beginning of the Sámi season of Spring-Winter, a transitional period between the cold winter months and the return of the sun, bringing warmer days. This is the peak season for outdoor activities like snowmobiling, dog sledding, and ice fishing! Over six days (including five nights), we will embrace our creativity on a photography journey through Lapland. My photography tour to Swedish Lapland is designed for photography enthusiasts who want to capture picturesque winter landscapes, majestic mountain formations, and the spectacular Northern Lights. This trip offers a blend of photography, adventure, and culture, with plenty of time for your own creativity. We will visit the best photo locations in the area between Kiruna and Abisko, offering numerous photo opportunities, from the breathtaking nature of Abisko National Park to fascinating ice formations and small fishing huts on the shores of the large mountain lake Torneträsk. March is characterized by long days, with nearly 12 hours of daylight. We will experience beautiful lighting and atmospheric colors in the sky during the morning and evening hours. In the twilight, with a bit of luck, we may also encounter wild animals like moose or reindeer, which bring the untouched nature of Lapland to life. During the day, we will have time to review our images and edit them together. I will share my post-processing workflow in Lightroom, showing you how to enhance your photos with just a few simple steps. Together, we will improve your photography skills, enabling you to create meaningful stories through photos that speak for themselves.
